ROSE
Registering Observers Structure Evolution - is an experimental virtual sculpture in VRML data format. It is slowly building up by views of people. Each access modificates a size, a shape and a color. The type of change depends on identity of viewer.

The performance had started on Thu May 23 18:00:00 MDT 1997 - at this moment no object existed - just cybervakuum. The born of flower was initiated by the first access. At the beginning the simple form was growing up, changing shape and color, became more complicated.

R O S E performs in Internet server during the days, months and years and people will invoke the changes: day by day different shape and color, day by day bigger structure...

The core of R O S E is cgi script, written in Bourne shell, executed by every access of the R O S E homepage. The script performs following actions:

1. searching identity of viewer: loading and scanning data from client computer.
2. changing variables according to identity of client.
3. computing shape and color of ROSE using actual variables, writing VRML model

Shapes and colors of ROSE are changing day by day. Slowly but irreversible. Here you can see some examples from the first days:

Test run from 24.4. 1997 to 12.5. 1997:

Evolution from 23.5. to 28.5. 1997:

Models were archived regurarly by day, later by week. Archiving was stopped by 26.7. 1997. Project was running til the end of the year 2002.
